What a time we had

Two of my children drove almost 400 miles one way to my sister’s home. My sister and I had not been together for 15 years. That was the longest we had ever been apart. What a blessing it was to get to physically hug her and spend the weekend with her. And it was the first time for just the four of us to be together.

We talked and talked and talked, listened to music and had many laughs. We talked about old times, present day issues and other subjects. One would be amazed how much we can talk about in such a short time. 😊

T and my sister spent time together in her beautiful kitchen. They both are excellent cooks and bakers. T made gluten free cupcakes and took to my sister.

They cooked wonderful gluten free meals for us. My sister baked a gluten free pan of cornbread from my nephew’s recipe for me to take home and it is delicious.

The four of us worked on and finished a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle. J and I spent a lot of time on the puzzle on Saturday. The table the puzzle was on was lightweight and kept scooting around. J saw my sister’s tennis shoes by the door and put them on two of the table legs. I wish I had taken a photo. That table looked so funny with tennis shoes on it’s legs. The shoes were a big help keeping that table in place.

J and I were working away on the puzzle while Sis and T were cooking and talking. They were sharing recipes and other things pertaining to cooking. J said “It’s like watching a cooking show” and I agreed.

The trip there was uneventful, but seemed long. On the way back home was a different story.

The traffic was heavy and bumper to bumper at times. We were in the left lane, an 18 wheeler was beside us in the center lane. A car pulled onto the freeway right in front of the 18 wheeler and braked.

The driver in the 18 wheeler was forced to move into the lane we were in to keep from rear ending the car. J had to move over to the median to keep the 18 wheeler from hitting us. We were going 70 miles an hour. When I saw that huge truck inches from the side of our car it was a bit unnerving for those few seconds.

J and the driver of the 18 wheeler did an excellent job keeping control of their vehicles and kept from happening what could have been a terrible accident.

We were all thankful that the Lord was watching over us and keeping us safe during our travels.

My sweet Sis made us all feel comfortable and welcome. She is an excellent host and always has been.

I am so very thankful for that time together. And I must say J did great being with us three ladies and said he had a wonerful time.

Hugs and blessings to all!

We were too Vero. Thank you so much for visiting and commenting. I had a wonderful time and what a joy it was being with my sister again even for that short while. Hope you are having a great day. I have not been on WP much for awhile but hope to get better at that. If the weather ever gets cooler I think my mood will be much better. Hugs

What a heartwarming post, Mags. I’m so happy you had that time with your family. It all sounds so nice (except the bit about the near mishap on the freeway!) God is so good!
