Reading blog posts and seeing ads the last few days it seems most of them have been about food.
When I read something today it reminded me of when my mother would tell me about some things I did as a young child.
I have always loved bread of any kind especially if it is homemade.

In the photo I was three years old. You can see I have a piece of bread in my hand.
My mother told me I would dig the center part out of my biscuit and lay it aside then I would eat the top and bottom with my breakfast.
After breakfast I would put the center part of the biscuit in my mouth and suck on it until the next meal. As an adult I don’t care much for the center part of biscuits. I like them thin with very little center, brown and crispy.
Bread and butter seemed to have been two of my favorite foods as a young child. Some of my family members would let me eat freshly churned butter from the butter dish. My mother told me they liked watching me eat the butter and leave my teeth prints on it.
Funny how such a little thing like me eating fresh churned butter from a butter dish brought joy and laughter to them.
Little things really do matter and I hope you have memories of some or that you experience some today that bring you a smile or brings joy to you.

Love this post, Sis. You brought a smile into my day with your sweet picture and biscuit story. My favorite breakfast was peanut butter and jelly spread on a slice of bread. Sometimes I left the bread out. I still eat peanut butter and jelly for breakfast. I guess I’m a diehard–LOL

I love peanut butter and jelly too and eat it often. Some times I grab a spoon fill it with peanut butter and eat it. I I am glad you enjoyed reading my post Sweet Sis.

Bread and butter with some sugar on top or without is always the best. If briefly soacked ( or else the butter will melt completely) in a cup of coffee then is one of those thing no high street patisserie can win over😉

Adding a bit of cinnamon with the sugar makes them good too. I remember my grandparents and other family embers soaking them in their coffee. Thank you for reading and taking the time to comment. Have a great day.

There’s nothing like the taste of homemade bread paired with fresh, churned butter—now that’s what I call real, wholesome food!

There are always little events in our early life that stand out in memory. Neurosurgeons are able to access much more by using electric probes in the brain of someone they are operating on and a vast amount of childhood memories come into play as they do that. That means you have many more memories locked away in your sub conscious waiting to come out and entertain us

Very interesting information, Ian. Sadly most of my childhood memories I do not want brought to the surface. I am most grateful for the good ones that I remember. I really was quite a handful in my growing up years, I might share some of those memories at some point. :)

It was the best. I remember making butter in a mason jar. It took a lot of shaking but it worked.

I’ve done that with my grade one class at school. We each took a turn shaking the jar.

I love that you did that.

They will remember that for a long time because I brought my breadmaker to school that day and we made bread with whole wheat seeds I had bought. The kids took turns with my grain grinder and we made the flour, then baked the bread in the machine, and in the meantime we made butter in a jar. When the bread was ready we had “our” butter on it and a bit of blackberry jam I had made and brought from home. One of our more memorable days. Your “Butter and Biscuits” post brought that all back to me.

That is awesome.
something they will probably never forget. I wish the children of today could experience something like that. Very few know what real food tastes like or even where food comes from. I love blackberry jam and it is wonderful on a hot buttered biscuit. I am glad my post brought back this wonderful memory to you. .

My mother loved Shirley Temple and she tried to fix curls in my hair like Shirley’s. :)

I thought those looked like Shirley Temple curls! We all loved Shirley Temple I think–at least the women in my family!
