Something I read this morning brought back memories of my first time in the sky.
In the late 1950’s I was off the ground and in the air for the first time other than being up in a tree. 😊
I flew from OK to NY. I don’t remember the flight there. The TWA Boeing 707 jet I boarded there I do remember. Several of us Army wives chartered the plane to take us from NY to Germany. I really enjoyed the flight.
After we were in the air it didn’t feel much different than if I were sitting in my house. We all were treated like royalty and the long flight did not seem long at all.
Some of us had babies and or older children. They made beds for the babies from the seats that were not occupied and the babies all slept well.
The plane stopped in Greenland to refuel. Then took us on to Frankfurt Germany where our husbands were waiting for us.
In the 1970’s I flew from AR to CO. That flight went well and I enjoyed it. Then the flight from CO back to AR had a mix up in scheduling that made the flight longer by taking us to Dallas. After a few hours in Dallas we were finally back in AR.
One of the last flights I took was from AR to OK. The plane motor was very loud and the plane rattled, shook and squeaked all the way to OKC. It was certainly nothing like flying in a big jet. I was wondering if it would make it there. Thank the Lord we made it there safely.
My final flight was from OK back to AR. The plane was quieter than the other one but, it also shook and squeaked off and on. I have not been on another plane and really hope and pray I don’t have to be.
Hugs and blessings to all who chose to visit, read Like and or comment.
