Before seat belts in vehicles.
It was a week day sometime in the 1980’s. I had loaded the children in our large station wagon and we had headed off to the city for an appointment.
The back of the seat on the seat behind the front seat could be put down on top of the seat to allow for loading things when the seat was not needed.
The older children loved to ride with the back down with their legs dangling between that seat and the back of the front seat. Four of the children were sitting there that day.
The baby about two months old was in what I called a baby carrier. I had placed her in the carrier and put her beside me in the front seat.

We were stopped at a red light on one of the busiest streets in the city. While waiting for the light to change to green someone rear ended our station wagon.
The children in the back were fine. The back of the front seat protected them when they were pushed forward by the impact from the vehicle behind us.
I witnessed something that cannot be explained other than it was a miracle from God.
I saw the baby and the carrier quickly fly straight up out of the front seat to within inches of the top of the station wagon. Then in awe I watched as the baby still in the carrier floated down and landed in the floorboard. She was asleep and never woke up or moved in the carrier.
I watched that carrier come down from the top of the station wagon in slow motion. It was like some invisible someone or something caught the carrier and sat it down slowly and carefully. Was it an angel not visible to the human eye or the hand of the Lord not visible to the human eye. I believe it was one or the other. No one has been able to explain how that happened other than what I believe it was.
When the police came they could not believe the baby was sound asleep still and appeared to be unharmed. They had me see if I could wake her. After waking her she went right back to sleep. They told me I probably should take her and have her checked to be sure she was okay.
I drove to Children’s Hospital and had her checked. She was perfectly fine.
Because we were in a large, heavy, well built vehicle none of us were injured.
This is just one of many things that have happened during my lifetime that has left me with no doubt that God loves us and cares about us.
That is why I talk to Jesus about everything no matter how large or how small…important things or things of little importance. I know He is always listening to what I have to say. We are all important to Him and he cares about us.
What a friend we have in Jesus.
