If you follow my blog you know that I do not enjoy cooking. I have surprised myself already this year by making pancakes and freezing them. I also baked a pan of cornbread. Maybe I will get in the mood to cook more often this year. :)
The year got off to a nice start. My friend came New Years Day and spent the day with me. We played Scrabble and listened to music.
Last night I worked the first jigsaw puzzle this year.

It was easy and fun to work. I think I need to get some that are a bit more challenging.
The weather has been nice and warmer than usual for my area so far this year, but cold weather returns this weekend.
A lot of birds have visited my yard. I heard a mourning dove cooing for the first time in awhile. it was in the driveway, but I couldn’t get a good picture of it.
Doves mate for life and only one has been seen at my place for awhile now. It makes me sad when they lose their mate.
This photo was taken awhile back.

I am hoping for a great year for us all.
Take some time to enjoy the “Little Things” that are so easily overlooked.
Love, hugs and blessings to all.

Yes my wife Georgine cooks up a storm now and then and makes waffles which we freeze by the dozens and they taste just as good when unfrozen :)

Yay, I am glad Georgine Keeps you well stocked with waffles. I really prefer waffles to pancakes but pancakes are easier for me to make. I haven’t used my waffle iron in a long time. Both do freeze well and never taste like they were frozen.

I love cornbread and Im sure yours is awesome. That is sad about that that mourning dove. It would be a hard life for a single bird. 😢

I love cornbread too. The dove that is left stays where the two of them always stayed. She is only a few feet from my backyard in a vacant lot. I like that she is staying near where I can see her when she comes to my yard. I feel sorry for her when she coos. She is doing well though and I am happy about that. Sometimes there are other doves that come to the yard and she walks around with them but never goes with them when they leave.

What do you have with/on them?

I like apricot preserves on them. Sometimes I just put an egg on top on one and eat bacon with it. I can no longer eat peanut butter so I don’t put it on them anymore.

I love doing jigsaw puzzles. Seems like you had a nice time with your friend and are keeping yourself entertained when you’re on your own.

I really enjoy life and do keep myself entertained. It is a little more challenging in the winter months, but I always manage to find something to do. Sometimes I rearrange furniture off and on in the winter. LOL

It’s important to have things to do that we find satisfying. Keep our brain from getting sluggish.

I don’t know how to describe it but paint-by-number with gems. You can find them in craft stores like Hobby Lobby and or Micheals, or online at Amazon and other sites like DiamondArt.com.

I did a search on it. I don’t think I would be able to do that because of arthritis in my hands. I used to paint with pastels and oils but have not been able to do that for several years now.

I have one that was one of my first and it is awful. Some were destroyed in a house fire and my children and other family members have the rest of them.
