Those of you that follow and visit my blog know about the water issues I had back in August. You can read about them here.
https://littlethingsmatter.blog/2025/08/15/he-always-goes-before-us/
Well, those water issues multiplied over a time. The issues I was having were repaired, but the city began having to repair water lines.
Crews were laying fiber optic cable in the city and cut our water lines eleven times. That left us without water off and on until they were all repaired.
A few days after all of that a kind man rang the doorbell. He informed me there was a gas leak and it was on my property and I needed to call a plumber.

That required a search for a plumber, I had not needed one in many years and did not know one.
I called a family member for recommendations, but that did not work out. I asked the Lord to help me find the right plumber.
I then did a search online and the very first plumber I found was the one I called. I had that feeling inside that comes when with the Lord’s help I have made the right decision.

Eight days I was without gas and hot water, but I did just fine. The Lord gave me peace about it all and I knew it was going to work out great.
The existing gas line was too old and pitted for them to repair. So a whole new gas line needed to be installed and all of my gas appliances brought up to code.
I left it all up to the Lord and the plumbers because there was nothing I could do to fix it.
The hot water heater had to be replaced and the heating unit and cook stove had to have new connections to pass inspection.
It took the plumbers working all day for four days to get it done and they did an amazing job.
After the work was all done the inspector came out and approved the work.
Every person that has come to my home and worked from August 15th until October 1st has been kind, caring and honest. I was comfortable with every one of them and with some it felt like I had known them for years and I had not met them ever before.
When we ask and trust God for help He helps above and beyond what we ask of Him.
The plumbers gave me a really nice discount on a very pricey job. What a blessing that was.
Over the last six weeks it has been very busy at my place. There have been plumbers, inspectors, gas company employees, water company employees, lawn care workers, grocery delivery people, and other delivery people coming and going.
Every one of them were wonderful and we enjoyed some nice conversations. There are a lot of really good, caring and respectful people in our world. And I truly believe there are more of them than we realize.
I have not been able to visit your blogs over the last few weeks, but I will be around to visit soon.
Hugs and blessings to all!

Sounds like a return to 1940’s style living. We certainlly have come to expect continuation of utility services each day and it’s a shock when we have disruptions. Disruptions were a common daily expectation during our time living in India.

We have had so many water outages and power outages in my little city over the years that they have become no surprise, just part of life living here. It was the first for no gas though. Having a toaster/convection oven and microwave was a big help. I purchased gallon jugs of water that got me through all the water outages. I could heat enough water in the microwave to clean up. I was far better off than in the 1940’s. I remember those days.

You need to elect new leaders for the town. This is unacceptable in our modern world.

We are working on that for the November 2026 election.

Oh, my goodness but what a lot to deal with! I am happy that it has all worked out, in spite of (or perhaps because of) the inconveniences.

I agree, Mags, there are still so many good folks here! We must discard the rotten stuff the so called news hits us with. I’m glad that you got a great price on all the work done, it was a blessing that the gas line repair helped get your home up to code! Blessing!! There is fiber internet available in my HOA but I’m staying with good old cable.

It was a blessing that the gas company noticed my gas usage going up and found the leak. I could have been blown up had it not been found and repaired. So much to be thankful for. Have a great day, John and blessing to you.

Wow, what a journey you’ve been through! I’m so glad everything got fixed and that the Lord gave you peace through it all 🙏. It sounds exhausting, but also a reminder of how kind and helpful people can be. If there’s ever anything I can do to help, whether a hand, advice, or just encouragement, I’m here for you. You don’t have to face it alone.
