This is Heidi, the boxer and Zeke the English Setter. They both came from a line of show dogs. Because they couldn’t qualify for showing they made their way to our home.
Heidi had floppy ears. No matter what was done to try to get her ears to stand erect did not work. But that did not keep her from having an enjoyable life filled with love. She was an inside/outside dog.
She loved all of the children and watched over them as if she was their mother.
Zeke did not qualify to show because his markings were not what was considered right to be a show dog.
He also was much loved and gave us so many laughs and one big surprise. He liked being outside.
Now and then he would climb the fence and go down the road a ways. A neighbor would call me and let me know that he was out for a stroll and that she was watching. him. She let me know when he was headed back home.
After taking his stroll down the road he would come back and sit outside the fence until one of us would go out and open the gate to let him in. I never could figure out why he could so easily climb the fence to get out, but wouldn’t climb it to get back in. :)
We had never intended to breed Zeke, but he had a different idea about that.
He and Julie one of our foster dogs decided they wanted babies. They blessed us with…
Abby, Boomer, Callie, Daisy, Ellie and Freckles. We kept Boomer and Freckles and the others went to loving homes.
These two beautiful dogs and them being considered by some to not be useful because they have flaws. reminds me that flaws does not matter to God.
He loves us just like we are. If we call on Him He will never turn us down because of flaws or any other reason. And to Him we are useful.
Hugs and blessings to all, thank you for visiting and reading.

Too right Mags, and as Granny Frass would say,” God isn’t in the business of perfection. He’s in the business of love.” A crooked tail or a wobbly walk never kept a soul from being cherished. If anything, the flaws make us all the more lovable! 🧡

They probably had better lives with you than parading around the show circuit. They are both beautiful.

That’s marvelous that you have taken in dogs that were not visually perfect for showing. They were good at loving.
