A brand new month already. It seems June flew by without me. It was a good month even though the heat and humidity was way high.
The critters kept me entertained as always. A few days ago I saw a first though. A redheaded woodpecker was chasing a young squirrel all over the yard. The squirrel climbed up on a light pole and kept going around and around on the pole as the woodpecker kept diving bombing toward the poor little thing.
After several minutes the woodpecker finally went on its way and left the squirrel on the pole. I had seen blue jays chase squirrels but not woodpeckers until that day.

I have no idea what kind of tree this is. It is one of the favorite places for the birds. I enjoy looking for birds hidden in it. I took this photo several years ago. I could easily see two birds but there are more in there.

Going through photos taken long ago I saw this one and I remembered taking it. I did not see the insect in the robin’s beak until I downloaded the photo from my camera.
The robin was getting ready to fly up under the carport to feed the babies in the nest.
I am looking forward to seeing what blessings, beauty and simple things July brings.
Happy July everyone. Hugs and blessings to all!

They stay busy in my yard for sure. It gets a little noisy at times with their pecking, but I love it.

Enjoy these summer days. You paint the picture of woodpecker and squirrel vividly. I have little sympathy for the squirrel, I confess, but woodpeckers obviously have some advantages.

You are not alone in not having much sympathy for the squirrel. :) I love the squirrel and the bird but wanted the bird to stop pecking that poor little squirrel, he was so little. :)
