This crepe myrtle tree has been in my yard for many years. It is the first thing to bloom every summer.
It decided this year it was going to spread out and really put on a show. All that growth has brought a lot of beauty to the yard, but will need some serious attention come pruning time.

When I took the photo it was partly cloudy and made the flowers look different shades of pink. There are two other crepe myrtle trees that should bloom soon.
There were more flowers before we had rain and some wind. I wish I had taken a photo earlier.
I love them and they require so little care.

Just gorgeous!
Unusual (to me) that it blooms early. I have a small bush, and it is one of the last things to bloom in my garden. It is only marginally hardy here and doesn’t bloom some years.

Thank you, Jean. I am hoping none of limbs break or crack. When it rained and the wind blew some of the limbs were almost touching the ground. I was glad the sun dried the blooms so they would not be so heavy.
