The Rooster and the Wren

The first sound I hear each morning comes from a rooster. He lives nearby and I look forward to hearing his ‘cock a doodle doo’ each morning. He lets me know all is well with him and that makes me happy.

The beautiful sound I hear a little bit later each morning comes from a tiny wren sitting on the fence next to the window.

The little wren’s song is beautiful and starts my day off with one of the most beautiful sounds in all of nature.

How can one not feel joy while hearing the song of the wren?

The rooster and the wren sound so much better than an alarm clock.

Glory, glory, said the Bee, Hallelujah, said the Flea. Praise the Lord, remarked the Wren. At springtime all is born-again.

Yes those are God’s creatures that can give you a welcome morning get up sound. You may feel quite different having a few guinea fowl in your back yard whose 4am shrieks sound like someone is murdering them and has you out of bed to try and save them only to find them eyeing you crossly for disturbing their violent noise. The neighbors on college campus complained until we got rid of them and I was glad to see them go. :)

LOL One of my aunts had guineas her whole adult life. I loved hearing them when we would visit her. After growing up though and hearing some on a daily basis for awhile not very far from me I decided I would not ever want any or live near them. Way too noisy.

Oh, I so agree, Mags. I love the chirpy trill of the wrens each morning. They sound so joyful!
